I was reading this book of Bill Bryson entitled "Notes from a Small Island" which was given to me by my fiance few days ago. It was about Bill Bryson's travel experiences in England way back in 1973. The first few pages that i have read was interesting when he found himself in the unfamiliar place of Calais during that cold night with no available hotel to check in as well as a restaurant to eat and also his experiences in Dover on the following day, where he found a bed and breakfast hotel that is very austere. Furthermore, he talks about living in London for 8 years and returning back to an unfamiliar place that had change a lot since 1973. Well it was very entertaining to read it as i've learned a lot of new things about England. I'm yet to finish it, in fact i have only read the first few chapters but i am really looking forward to read it further in the coming days.
Anyway, the first few pages made me think about London hotel and the big difference from hotels in other cities of England like what Bill Bryson's experienced or perhaps the big changes that all London hotels have gone through in recent times. Probably there's still a wide range of cheap London hotels to choose apart from those luxury hotels that London has during this times. Anyhow, if you had read the book you probably understand why i had this sudden thoughts of comparison.
